I SEA I CARE COASTAL WORKSHOPS ARE A WRAP FOR 2022!
We had a wonderful week with the final coastal workshops for 2022 with our Mornington Peninsula and Melbourne Ambassadors! Sean from Living Culture guided Ambassadors on walk and taste sessions where they learned about, and sampled some of the indigenous plants along the track. Sean then led a fire making and spear throwing session and we were so inspired by the Ambassadors’ willingness to embrace new challenges, and Sean had their rapt attention from start to finish with his amazing knowledge of his ancient culture, what a treat!
Jacqui led the Sand-Sort and Ambassadors raced to identify a range of marine debris items. The Ambassadors nailed the challenge identifying almost all of the items!
Anthony and his team from Naturelinks and Neil from the Mornington Peninsula Shire also conducted weeding sessions where they identified and discussed a range of indigenous and non-indigenous animals and plants in the area and then Ambassadors got hands on with some weeding. It is amazing to see the positive impact our years of weeding in this area have had on the native flora and fauna!
We finished off with a barbeque and awards session with a big congratulations to all of our Excellence Award recipients!
As always thank you SO much to our partners, and a huge thank you to our ISIC teachers and parent/carers for giving up their time to support and transport the Ambassadors throughout the year, without you this program would not be possible!
