This presentation provides the training needed to participate in the Western Port Citizen Science Project. The goal of the project is to understand the spatial and temporal patterns of the small number of bottlenose dolphins living in the broad area from Somers to Merricks.
The Institute is sensitive to the local interest in these dolphins and does not widely publicise their precise locations and behaviours. This is a long-term and ongoing project to support the environmental management of these dolphins. The outcomes of the study will be shared with environmental managers.
The training is aimed at university interns and community members who wish to contribute more than the occasional sighting. To find out more, please contact us through the link following the video.
