OUR THOUGHTS GO OUT FOR THE RESCUE OF  A DOLPHIN IN MANDURAH, WA.

Attempts to rescue a young dolphin tangled in fishing line have been thwarted by its mother not letting anyone get close enough to do anything. Reported in the Mandurah Coastal Times, the calf is 18 months old and the Department of Biodiversity and Conservation are working with volunteer groups to attempt the rescue.

We wish them luck and can empathise, after facing a similar situation in Port Phillip. That time luck was on our side…

Calls about a dolphin calf tangled in rope off Frankston put us in rescue mode. We launched our vessel fully realising that with only hours until sunset, we would struggle to find it let alone get close enough to do anything…

Discarded fishing line keeps catching birds and other animals forever!
