It took more than a decade of painstaking work for David Donnelly and many passionate citizen scientists to add the 50th ID fluke image to the Victorian Whale Catalogue. But less than three years to add the 100th fluke!
This important outcome reflects the growth of the Two Bays Whale Project, a partnership with Wildlife Coast Cruises, The Dolphin Research Institute and a growing number of passionate citizen scientists.
This document is the first and only identification catalogue for humpback whales in Victorian Waters and fills an important gap in the understanding of this species in the region. It will support the long-term protection of humpback whales in Victorian waters.
