GEELONG, BELLARINE AND SURFCOAST WORKSHOP FUN!
We were so happy to have gorgeous sunshine for our final Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast I SEA I CARE Workshop for 2023 at the beautiful Point Lonsdale foreshore!
We began the day with a Sand-Sort session with Ambassadors racing each other to identify a range of marine debris items hidden in the sand. This activity helps Ambassadors to have a deeper understanding of the many issues regarding micro plastic impacts on the marine and bird life and the importance of identifying the items and sources of marine debris.
We then conducted a whale and dolphin artefact show-and-tell, and a chance for Ambassadors to understand DRI research activities during the whale and dolphin identification session.
Finally we were so happy to have Ash Skinner from the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation presenting a range of artefacts and discussing our amazing indigenous history and culture. We loved hearing his stories and all were so impressed with his vast knowledge of his culture and his passion to share his history.
As always we finished the day with a delicious barbeque in the sunshine, and we would like to thank all of our ISIC teachers, parent carers, and the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic School for supporting our Ambassadors throughout the year and making our workshops possible.
