Name Our Dolphin
Meet dolphin #89 from Port Phillip’s unique community of common dolphins! First identified in 2022, this playful individual has been sighted regularly every year since. Earlier this year, #89 was even seen ‘babysitting’ another dolphin’s young calf! On our most recent survey, #89 put on quite the show for our research team with a spectacular display of leaps and splashes off the Mornington Yacht Club.
Now, we’re inviting you to help give this local dolphin a name! With 166 individuals in our catalogue, we only name a special few. Some are named based on their description to make identifying them later on easier, some have been named after our beloved supporters and occasionally we hold competitions for our community members to suggest a name! While we don’t know if #89 is male or female just yet, they have certainly made a splash with their bold personality and we think they deserve a name!
Your support helps to protect dolphins like #89 that live right here in your Bay.
