Environmental Leadership

Program

Our award-winning program for primary schools has developed over 8000 ambassadors from 97 schools in 7 regions across Greater Melbourne for almost 25 years.

Our award-winning i sea i care program was developed by the Dolphin Research Institute to showcase to Victorians that “what lives around our coast is too precious to lose”. Our surveys highlight Victorians misconceptions about the significance of our unique marine ecosystems and species, when more than 90% of Victorians value the marine ecosystems in other states above their own. This is a critical block to success for everyone who works on coastal and catchment issues.

i sea i care takes a long-term strategic approach. This provides added value to current marine education programs with on-going communications that are relevant and accessible to a much wider audience. i sea i care has a proven track record of developing young leaders by providing real and relevant experiences that enrich the Ambassadors and their school community.

TESTIMONIALS FROM TEACHERS

Thank YOU for such a wonderful way to wrap up this year with the ambassadors. We really enjoyed the evening and so did our kids – especially with their amazing achievement of Ambassador School of the Year. Thank you so much. The kids also really loved presenting, so thank you for giving them that opportunity to get up there and have a go. Such a buzz! It’s a brilliant program and we are so very grateful for the passion and effort you put into it; we genuinely appreciate each and every moment you put into making every experience with our kids just amazing – whether it be with the ISIC ambassadors, or whilst some of our classes have joined you and your colleagues at the DRI for excursions. We have absolutely loved this year and our kids have really enjoyed themselves. We’re really looking forward to what we can bring to Lynbrook with the program for next year and how we can continue to develop these ideas even further. 🙂

We are getting a lot of value out of this whole program. 12 months ago our school did virtually nothing in the way of environmental education. I've been working through my lunchtimes getting our Green Team up off the ground and it's starting to really gather momentum now 🙂 The ambassadors were so excited after the last workshop and are working on a few little surprises for the presentation night!

Thank you so much for last night and staying back to listen to us. In regards to our school St. Agatha's a few of us parents are getting together to put forward letters to our principal recommending the program participation goes into 2016. Personally my Paddy who was in the program this year, has loved the program and to tell you honestly so have I. I cannot say how much of a benefit it has been to him, being intellectually advanced, his love for science and the environment means that this program has been fantastic for him. All I can say is Well done, you have created a brilliant program for all kids.
