The pilot program for the ‘i sea, i care’ program in secondary schools is drawing to its conclusion with some very positive responses.
The students took part in a Community Dolphin Monitoring exercise at Mornington, a Catchment workshop in Elsternwick and a visit to the Biological Sciences Department at Monash University in Clayton. Here they spent the morning learning about many different research pathways into environmental science and looking at some of the marine specimens under microscopes. All the students enjoyed the visit, especially those who hadn’t considered Monash University before.
Both Firbank Grammar and Brighton Secondary College are currently working on their marine presentations and will be delivering them to community groups in the near future.
