The results of the Litter Hotspots survey run by the ‘i sea, i care’ Ambassadors in 2014 showed that most people believe that litter is the biggest problem for our bay beaches, and that this litter comes from beach-goers rather than drains. This means that they don’t connect their streets and their behaviours with litter and other matters in the catchment with the bay — and have no reason to change their behaviours. These findings have been fed back into the Cleaner Yarra and Bay Taskforce and will help to shape future education and engagement programs.
