PEER TEACHING IS SO MUCH FUN! We had a fantastic day with lots of learning and laughter for our Kingston ISIC Marine Ambassador Peer Teaching Workshop with students from St John Vianney’s, St Louis and Patterson Lakes.  After two years of lockdowns and online learning, everyone was so excited to attend the workshop in person and to get to know Ambassadors from other schools!

After teaching the students tips and tricks for effective communication, Jess and Mandy took the students through a range of ocean related activities and had their rapt attention when talking about the fascinating facts about some of the species that live in our local bays.

Jess supervised the Ambassadors in preparation for teaching another class.
The Ambassadors then had time to practice what they had learned, and there was a great deal of laughter as they supported each other through the different activities.

After practising the Ambassadors then became the teachers, and did a fantastic job of teaching a younger class all about the marine environment and how to help protect it!
Our Ambassadors had the young students rapt attention as they taught them all about our marine treasures!

It is was as always, so rewarding to watch these young students gain so much confidence in just a few hours to learn and then effectively teach the marine activities to their younger cohorts, and the support that they gave each other was just wonderful!  Thank you so much to Wendy Mertens and St. Louis for hosting the day, and as always to the wonderful teachers, parents and carers that transported our Ambassadors to the workshop, without you it would not be possible!
