This workshop was on Monday, 5 March at Ricketts Point, Beaumaris. It was a great start to the Ambassadors’ year – the future champions of our marine environment.

Activities included snorkelling in the marine sanctuary, exploring the rock pools and investigating what lives in the sea grass.  All this gave the Ambassadors from Mt Hira College, Wooranna Park PS, Lyndale PS, Chandler Park PS, Emerson School, Carwatha College and Silverton PS a sense of how special Port Phillip is.

The students spent a session learning to snorkel for the first time with the amazing instructors, Jack and Tam, from Merricks Lodge.
Then they immersed themselves in the invertebrate world of the sanctuary, exploring the rocks pools with Ellen and investigating the micro-world of sea grass with Russell.

It was an incredible day and one the students will never forget. Many thanks to Jon Lazarus from Uniting Church Camping for their generous support and Margaret Hewitt for the organisation of the venue.
Don’t Forget: Next term’s workshop at Wooranna Park and Chandler Park Primary Schools for peer teaching! Looking forward to seeing you all there.
