To all of our wonderful Ambassadors, whilst this is a very challenging time for all of us and we want you all to know that we are thinking of you as you start the new term in a very different way! Some of you may be thinking how do we help the environment when we are under quarantine restrictions? There are many things you can do from home, and it is so important that you remember the saying “Think globally, act locally” which asks us to consider the planet and how our daily actions may impact upon the environment, and how our actions in our own communities can help protect our beautiful world! So, what can you do? Well now is the time to help those you live with act more sustainably! This could be as simple as making sure you have a Redcycle bin in your kitchen and helping your quarantine team get into the habit of using the bin, and dropping off soft plastics at Woolworths or Coles during food shopping. You could also make trash art with items you have collected (and washed thoroughly) on previous beach cleans, or upcycle items such as old containers to make bird feeders, build beehives and tables out of old wood pallets (of course with parent/carer help), or research awesome plant hacks to turn discarded seeds and vegetables into new plants!! Also, remember how important it is to continue to create awareness within your communities, and how easy is that to do online!!! For example, you could make a video of some plant hacks you have tried, or a demonstration to explain which plastics to Redcycle using the scrunch test, or film and identify the beautiful birds and insects in your garden to help people understand the importance of looking after their little piece of the planet!! So, stay safe, stay motivated, stay positive, and remember conservation does not need to stop during quarantine!! Of course, if you have any questions or ideas for school projects ask your coordinators to send them through!! Stay tuned for some exciting blogs, videocasts, online conversations and activities coming to your classroom or home and on our website! WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!! From the education team!
