Research Programs of the Dolphin Research Institute

DRI Vessel 250x175.jpg All of the Dolphin Research Institute's research programs are overseen by our Research Committee. We also have a very strong partnership with Monash University.

The Institute's research programs are currently focused in Port Phillip Bay, Westernport Bay and Victoria's Gippsland Lakes region.

Our programs are conducted under a Research Permit issued by the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE), a department of the Victorian State Government. Each year, the Institute has to report back to outlining any data collected and results obtained under the permit, prior to having a new permit issued.

Current areas of research include

Working to Protect Dolphins
Long-term population studies to identify areas of importance to the dolphins, human impacts on dolphins and the marine environment, and the extent of these impacts.
