2012 Challenge Updates
Our last programs were on Saturday and Sunday 21/2 January at Rickett's Point (near the Beaumaris Lifesaving Club) for our Marine Mysteries program and a talk on marine birds and marine protected areas.
Wednesday and Thursday's programs at San Remo were well attended with over 110 people across both days.
Thanks to the nearly 500 people for joining us on the beach this summer at the many locations of our FREE family marine education programs. Special thanks to the brave children who turned up in their raincoats on a couple of the days!!
PS: Check out our Facebook page for other updates.

The 2012 "i sea, i care" Challenge ran from January 7 - 22 and, again, collected valuable research data and ran programs for children and adults around both bays.
For the latest images and reports from the Challenge, go to our Facebook page. There are lots of photos of the participants and updates from our team.
This is the Challenge's fourth year and is again supported by Melbourne Water. Our programs tell the story of Victoria's Living Marine Treasures.
Another key part of our work is to take Fin-ID images of dolphins to track their movements and life history. Our dolphin surveys have found common dolphins off Mornington and bottlenose dolphins between Rye and Portsea.
We are concerned about boats harasssing dolphins. One vessel (see above) in particular was photographed driving very close, but sped off before we could get his registration when he realised he was being photographed.
We also tell the story of the impacts that drains, creeks and rivers have on the bays.
We call it the "Challenge" because we want to challenge people to change their thinking. We want Victorians to realise that "what lives around OUR coast is too precious to lose".
