This workshop is on Monday, 5 March at Ricketts Point, Beaumaris. It is a great way to start the Ambassadors' year and hopefully motivates them to become strong champions for our marine environment. Activities such as snorkelling in the marine sanctuary, exploring the rock pools and investigating what lives in the sea grass all give students a sense of how special Port Phillip is.
Location is Beaumaris Life Saving Club Marine Education Centre at the southern end of the car park. Bus transport will be arranged and a pick up time and location advised.
Ambassadors need to bring a notebook and pen or ipad if they wish to take notes on the day, perhaps a camera, plus the usual food and drink. DON'T FORGET - WE ARE AIMING FOR WORKSHOPS TO BE PLASTIC FREE!!!
Cost for each person is $27, including adults. There will be a maximum of 60 snorkellers as we will have 3 guides available. Each school will be invoiced for the snorkelling.
It is advantageous if swimmers are competent and confident in the water. However, the snorkelling takes place close to shore where the water will be shallow and we welcome all abilities.
All equipment is provided. If students have their own wetsuits then that is very helpful. Bring bathers, towel and most importantly, warm clothes to put on after swimming. It is surprising how cold the students can feel when they are wet!
Weather conditions can be anything at this time of year so please come prepared for all possibilities. It can be cold after being in the water.
We will be in close contact with the snorkel guides in the days before and let you know of any concerns or updates via the website.
PLEASE BE ADVISED THE SNORKELLING MAY BE CANCELLED DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER. (No invoices will be sent unless the activity has taken place).
Any queries, please phone 03 5979 7100.
