Dozens of budding dolphin researchers and their parents descended on DRI’s centre in Hastings on Wednesday, determined to be a Dolphin Researcher for the Day! Here they learnt about echo-location, how dolphins talk to each other, how they find their food – and how we can tell them apart.
They spent the morning learning about whales and dolphins before testing their skills at fin identification, just like our own researchers do. And a special visit by Bottles the Dolphin made everyone’s day.
The next Dolphin Researcher for A Day program will be held in the September school holidays. Keep checking the website for details. It is a fun and interactive program for primary school-aged children. Cost is only $12 per child (under 4 free)!
Strictly limited in numbers – as we want everyone to have an amazing experience of being a ‘Dolphin Researcher for a Day’ with the Dolphin Research Institute!
